In this class students will be paired up to build and program simple robots that use a motor and sensors and LEGO®’s simple to use drag and drop programming software. They explore a series of cross-curricular, theme based activities while developing their skills in science, technology, engineering, mathematics as well as language, literacy, and social studies.  STEM has never been so much fun.

THURSDAYS (10 sessions) JAN 18, 25 FEB 1, 8, 15 MAR 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

Every grade and skill level is welcome.  This is a fun club with the aim to teach students how to play chess and increase their chess skills.  Classes typically include: basic principles and strategy of how to open a chess game, how to conduct the middle game, and how to win (or avoid losing) in the endgame. Playing chess has shown to increase math skills, concentration, and self-confidence.

Musical Minds Piano Keyboarding – 1-5th Grade

FRIDAYS (8 sessions) JAN 19, 26 FEB 2, 16, MAR 2, 9, 16, 23

Kids will have the opportunity to learn to play their favorite songs and music on electric keyboards.  Radio hits, movie and television themes are made so easy, that our participants will be playing them after the very first class!  The club is a combination of keyboard piano lessons and music learning workshop, which uses a clever visual method to teach the basics of music reading and piano playing. Learning is made fun with games and activities designed to keep students motivated to want to learn music.  We have music from Moana, Star Wars, Frozen, Taylor Swift, and more!

Art Wizards – 1-5th Grade

TUESDAYS (8 sessions) JAN 16, 23, 30 FEB 6, 13, 27 MAR 6, 13

In Art Wizards, kids learn to draw the things that kids find exciting.  The most important part of learning to draw is learning to see.  We give them the information they need to be successful, but not so much that we stifle their imagination or limit their opportunities.  Projects include: fish, birds and animals of all kinds, people, landscapes, still life, mythical creatures, movie characters and cartoons.  We use a variety of mediums too.  It’s exciting and rewarding!

ASAP Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register?

Specific class information and registration instructions for all classes are provided on the registration link above. First come, first served. If the program you are trying to register for is full and you would like to be put on a waitlist, please email Openings will be filled in the order in which students were added to the waitlist. Payment should be paid in full by the first class session.

What about payment? Are there scholarships?

Payment should be paid in full by the first class session.  Most payments are completed electronically directly through the vendor’s website.  Any payments that are collected by Kenmore PTA need to be paid by the first class session.

The Kenmore PTA is pleased to offer scholarships for our programs.  Please email for more information.  All scholarship requests are kept completely confidential.  Priority of scholarships are given to parents that can volunteer for the class sessions.

What are the refund policies?

Late enrollments will be accepted as space allows.  If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, participants will receive their full tuition refund. There are no refunds for student absences. Snow days will be made up if possible. Cancellations initiated by the participant must be requested a minimum of 1 week prior to the start of class.  This request must be made in writing to the ASAP Chair at

What are the behavior expectations?

All student participants are expected to conduct themselves according to the ASAP-Behavior-Contract 2017.pdf Any student that fails to follow the student expectations or has excessive behavioral issues that continually disrupt other participants will be removed from participation in the After School Activities Programs for the rest of the session.  No refund will be issued for such removal.

Why do you need Parent Chaperones?

In order to safely run an after school enrichment program, a PTA member volunteer is required to be present with the students during the entire length of the class.  These volunteers will assist in the check-in and check-out process and provide assistance to the instructor as needed. The volunteer must complete a Safety Background Check and have attended the Volunteer Training. If a PTA member volunteer is not available to chaperone at each session, we will not be able to offer the program. One PTA member volunteer per program may be given priority in class placement as well as discounted class fee (may vary from program to program) for volunteering for every class in the session.  This is handled on a first come, first served basis.  Please email for more information.

 Is there transportation available?

No. The student must have access to transportation. Walking is an acceptable form of transportation for students as long as their parent specifies in advance that the student will be walking home after the session.

Where do I pick up my child?

Please respect the commitments of our instructors and PTA volunteers and arrive promptly for pick-up. Parents can pick up their child at the end of each class in the designated classroom of the child’s activity. Children will be released only to authorized guardians. If another adult is responsible for picking up your child please note this on the enrollment form. If it becomes necessary for an adult who is not on the form to pick up your child, please send a note with your child to give to the class instructor. Consistently late pick ups may be asked to withdraw from the class session without refund at the PTA’s discretion.

Does your student need accommodations or translations?

Kenmore PTA After School Programs are available to all students attending Kenmore Elementary. Individuals requiring special accommodations to attend or participate in Kenmore PTA’s programs are requested to contact the ASAP Chair at sufficiently in advance to allow for any necessary arrangements.
