Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month

May: Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month

The Kenmore Community is invited to a month-long celebration honoring the beautiful and rich contributions and influences of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements in this country.  The month of May was designated as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage month to commemorate the first immigrants from Japan to the United States in May of 1843 and the 20,000 Asian immigrants who contributed to the completion of the transcontinental railroad in May of 1869.
