Black History Month

Black History Month

Join us in celebrating Black History Month this February. This is a reminder to have open conversations with our children around issues of racial discrimination, oppression and restorative justice along with celebrating Black histories, achievement and joy. Colorful Pages recommends 28 Black history picture books for 28 days. Each of the books are #OwnVoices and written by brilliant Black authors that can be read alongside your KE Cub.

When we are willing to have the hard conversations about injustices of the past and advocate for change in the future, we will make lasting changes in ourselves and our community. May we learn from the African symbol of the Sankofa bird that literally translates to “look to the past to inform the future.”
