Pride Month

Pride Month

Join us in celebrating Pride during the month of June.

Pride Month marks the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall riots which led to the first Pride March and rally in NYC. This spirit of resistance has evolved into the celebration we know today. Pride events occur all over the world during the weeks in June. We encourage our KE community to take time during this month to honor the experiences, struggles and visions of the LGBTQIA2S+ community.

Here are a few ways to connect and engage during Pride Month:

  • Celebrate the kick off to Pride Month in Kenmore with the Pride Flag Raising Ceremony at City Hall. The Progress Pride Flag will fly high for the month of June.
  • Check out the Phinney-Greenwod Rainbow Hop. Follow the map to collect stamps during this family friendly pride celebration for free tickets to Woodland Park Zoo.
  • Attend the 49th Annual Seattle Pride Parade on June 25th
  • Enjoy the read aloud: “I Am Jazz”, read by the author, Transgender teenage activist and HRC Youth Ambassador Jazz Jennings.
  • Watch: What Can We Do? Bias, Bullying, & Bystanders Educators model with a classroom how to engage students in real conversations about bias-based bullying and standing up for each other.
  • Watch the animated short  “The Reflection of Me,” by Marc Colagiovanni, which shares a theme of love and self-acceptance.
